gas prices

Hey folks, is it just me or has anyone noticed the gas prices? I live about 45 miles outside of Chicago. I watched as the gas prices started creeping up about a month before Memorial day. I watch the news nearly every morning, but I never heard any comment about dwindling gas supplies, reduced refinning capacities, nothing, until it hit $3.69 per gallon here. Then all of a sudden there are stories, and I mean "stories" on the news about how all of a sudden, out of nowhere, we find gas refinning capabilities are down, reserves are down, etc. (the normal annual SCAM!)
Then amazingly enough, 2 days after the holiday, gas here went down 20 cents/ gal.
Now keep in mind, there has been nothing on the news around here or Chicago about a new refinery, or increased reserves, none of that, but the gas in N.W. Indina went down 70-80 cents per gallon in only 2 1/2 to 3 weeks since Memorial Day, but wait.....the 4th of July is coming, and there goes the gas hikes again! The crap they are feeding us on the news is just that, CRAP! There is no shortage, it is PURELY the oil companies, jacking with the prices, and the reason the poloticians won't do anything I think, is because number 1 they don't have to buy gas, 2 they have money invested in the oil companies. Why should they care if we are all getting raped at the pump? And while I'm talking about gas, why on god's green earth should local, county and state cops be allowed to take home their squad cars and drive their families around in the squad cars, on my tax dollars!!!!!!!
